The Kek Lok Si Temple (Chinese: 極樂寺) is a Buddhist temple within the city of George Town in the Malaysian state of Penang, attracting Buddhist devotees across Asia over the years to continue coming to offer their prayers. The entire complex of temples was built over a period from 1890 to 1930, an inspirational initiative of Beow Lean, the abbot.
We were there during Chinese New Year, a special feature at this temple, where the temple lights up everywhere, creating an extrordinary air of magic and wonder. Leeliu was praying & making offerings with the immensely stunning 36.57-metre-tall (120 ft) bronze statue of Guanyin (Kuan Yin), the Chinese Goddess of Mercy while I went around to capture some of this beauty, amidst the surprising blessed rains.
May all have a peaceful, meaningful and blessed Dragon New Year ahead.
