Agra’s Red Fort

While Leeliu stayed at the hotel with a cold, I set out to explore the Red Fort of Agra through the winter smog of northern India. Agra Fort is a vast fortress and palace complex from the era of the Mughal emperors and served, with interruptions, as the Mughal residence during the 16th and 17th centuries.

The beautifully yet minimalist-decorated residential areas of the palace section especially reminded me of the Alhambra in Granada. I had expected a purely military fortress and was genuinely surprised by the elegance and beauty of the living quarters.
